Open Letter To Dealers
Too many dealers and reps don’t truly understand the importance of heated clothing in their sales plan, so let me take a little time to try to explain why you need to be selling heated clothing before you sell tires, oil and other accessories.
I am sure you think that heated clothing is just some apparel item that most riders will never use. Let’s look at it from the buyer’s perspective. Your customer is about to make a major discretionary purchase of a motorcycle. In most cases this is not something he needs but something he wants. But let’s assume he needs it. He is trying to reduce the cost of gas and parking and the rider commutes to work most days on the motorcycle. With heated clothing he has been able to extend his riding season, increase his comfort and by reducing the bulk of layered clothing, he is now riding safer. And for the person who is just buying the bike to ride for fun, you have now extended his riding season. If he is touring, he can carry less clothing and he is safer because he is now warm in the coldest weather. Remember, cold does not mean the roads are not clear. We have customers commuting to work on their motorcycle with our gear when it is 20 deg out and the roads are dry.
How many bikers would ride more if their wife or girlfriend was warm on the back of the bike? Remember, summer does not mean that you are not going to hit a cold front or storm. If you are lucky enough to have a companion on the back of the bike, you need to think about what makes them happy. Being warm and dry does that. Our heated liners fold small and compact, so they can be with them on every ride. They breathe so you can put them on in the morning and wear them all day until you need them again at night. Remember the greater the weight on the bike the greater the wear on tires and brakes. The more the bike is ridden, the more tires, oil, filters, and services you are going to sell the rider. If they can put someone on the back of the bike that is more sales of helmets, intercoms, riding apparel, boots… do I need to go on? This is why everyone at the dealership should be promoting Warm & Safe Heated Gear since the dealership as a whole profits from the customer using it.
So why sell Warm & Safe Heated Gear? Because we are the innovators and inventors in this business. We brought out the first solid state heat controller, the Heat-troller, over 20 years ago and have been updating it ever since, while the competitors are using designs based on a product we made 15 years ago. Importantly, we are the only people in this business that ride. I don’t mean ride to the store or the next state, I mean 8 years on the road with 3 bikes in different parts of the world. Three to six months touring on a motorcycle in other years for the past 20 years. We rely on the products we make and that is why we are constantly upgrading the design.
Also, we support our products, let us take that off your back. You focus on selling; we will focus on customer service and support. We check emails seven days a week, all hours of the day. What other heated gear maker does that? If your customer calls on a Sunday, there is a good chance someone will answer the phone. We can do this because the failure rate of our products is so low, we can take time to talk to a fellow biker, dealer or rep.
Our inventions and innovations have brought heated clothing to equal the choices and advancements in motorcycling so why do competitors want to force it backwards. Can you imagine a motorcycle with only 3 speeds? That is what you get with those button heated garments. You need to change it by pushing through your clothing or taking your hands off the handlebars to reach across your body to find the button. Don’t get me started on the stupidity of a phone app to control your heated gear while riding through the mountains in the rain.
The Generation 4 heated jacket liner has over 100 Watts of heat, uses the flat, soft carbon heating, Gelanots stretch panels to keep it close to the body, has reflective to increase safety if you must take the outer jacket off, is thin and light and breathable. The heated WindBlock Pants use Gelanots stretch fabric in the front to act as wind block for those that ride in jeans. It has heat down the front of the leg and in the upper butt area. The gloves are designed with double heat in the thumbs. The Dual Remote Heat-troller is our number one selling controller since you can control multiple items on the body differently. If they have multiple bikes, the receiver stays in the jacket liner and the remote moves from bike to bike only needing extra battery harnesses.
As for the Heat Layer shirt, it is designed to interface with all our other products, fits like a base layer, and is thinner and lighter than our jacket liner. This is becoming a hot seller; even people that already have our jacket liner are purchasing the heat layer as well. If they have the remote Heat-troller already, all they need to buy is the receiver for the shirt; one remote will sync to both receivers. Check out the reviews!
